Of all the fighters featured on the card, none is more experienced than Camarata, who has a professional career spanning more than 14 years. He’s an accomplished grappler, and a brown belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu. However, Nunzio’s proudest accomplishment is his daughter, Savanah, who under the tutelage of her father, is a 14 time jiu jitsu champion.

Bayou Fighting Championship Brings MMA back to Tangipahoa Parish!

Bayou Fighting Championship is bringing MMA back to Tangipahoa Parish (southeastern Louisiana) after a near four year absence of the sport. A lot of that has to do with current UFC featherweight Kurt Holobaugh. Louisiana in general is an absolute hotbed for MMA, with two UFC champions coming from the state; Daniel Cormier and Dustin Poirier are both from the city of Lafayette. Many of the first UFC events took place in Louisiana. It was one of the first safe haven states for the sport.

Mixed martial arts action returned to New Orleans yesterday, April 5th, with Bayou Fighting Championship 36. The card was packed with eleven exceptional matchups in which fighters represented several local Gulf Coast and Southeastern US gyms, including Gladiators Academy, NOLA BJJ, Team NKI, Headkicks MMA, BMAC, RONIN, Juggernaut, Gracie Barra Westchase and Soul Fighters.
